La Comunidad Oscar Arnulfo Romero

La Comunidad Oscar Arnulfo Romero, or "COAR" as it's known to those familiar with it, is home today to some 119 young Salvadoran children with nowhere else to turn. Begun in 1980 by Father Ken Myers, a diocesan priest from Cleveland, Ohio, COAR has served thousands of children in its twenty-seven year history. Founded as a refuge for the youngest victims, the orphaned children who lost their parents to the violent, 12 year civil war in El Salvador, COAR today continues to serve El Salvador's neediest kids. Located in Zaragoza, La Libertad, El Salvador, COAR serves as a safe haven for the children who live there, a rare and peaceful oasis from the harsh world that surrounds it.
